Marla Gitterman
Bpeace Chief Program Officer

“I joined Bpeace as a volunteer in 2004. At my first meeting I sat in awe and respect at how much this small, informal group had accomplished in such a short amount of time. What I learned that day is ‘businesspeople get things done’. Now I'm proud to be a part of the Bpeace business model: focusing on small and medium-size business development -- the real link to job creation and economic development -- and providing entrepreneurs with what they need to grow.”

Marla has over 20 years experience working for various national and international non-profit organizations -- in the U.S., Israel and Bolivia -- focusing on women's social and economic empowerment, refugee relief, human rights and sustainable development.

Prior to joining Bpeace in 2005 as its first full-time employee, Marla worked as Technical Program Officer at Women's World Banking, the international network of microfinance organizations where she helped support the development of microfinance institutions in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Marla is a certified trainer in market research for microfinance. At Women’s World Banking, Marla designed and conducted market research with microfinance clients of WWB network members in Dominican Republic, Morocco, Bosnia, Bali and The Gambia.

Marla is conversant in Spanish and Hebrew. She has a Masters Degree in International Development from the School for International Training.
